Humanitarian Week
As a part of our semester activities, HUNICEF hosts Humanitarian Week; a week-long activity with a different theme for every day aimed at raising awareness and collecting donations that are send to support one of the UNICEF funds.
2022 - In Support of Pakistan Flood Relief

dAY 1: sHELTER (11/7)
Join us in the Science Center Plaza from 2-4pm to learn about housing insecurity in the US and to participate in various simulations and learn more about Y2Y, a student-run homeless shelter in Harvard Square (check them out at https://www.y2ynetwork.org/!)
daY 2: hEALTH (11/8)
Play Health Jeopardy at the Science Center Plaza from 2-4pm to test your knowledge of health equity facts. Don’t forget to grab some pamphlets on anxiety and stress management tips!
DAY 3: Education (11/9)
Learn more about education equity throughout the use through a trivia game at the Science Center Plaza from 2-4pm, and share how your educational experiences have impacted you! Come to learn about learning more about learning disabilities and how they impact children’s educational journey!
dAY 4: Nutrition (11/10)
Stop by one of the dining halls to see how much food is wasted at a regular dinner, and learn more about food waste statistics in the US and world-wide!
Day 5: Trauma (11/11)
Come learn about how art therapy can help children who experienced trauma, and learn more about the burden of trauma through an activity! Share how certain memories and events in your childhood have impacted you and remained with you until now!

2019 - In Support of the Yemen Humanitarian Crisis
Creating a space for dialogue about the Yemeni Conflict.
Playing Kahoot with questions about food access and nutritional disparities in different places across the globe.
Weighing all the food from dinner at the first-year dining hall to educate the Class of 2023 about food waste.
Advocating for equal access to education around the world!

Conflict monday
Humanitarian responses to conflict and disaster form the crux of crisis recovery. We held a panel featuring former US Ambassador Catherine Russell and we screened “The While Helmets”
Teaching tuesday
Developing countries struggle to maintain robust education systems. We shared the inside of a Ugandan classroom through a VR tour and provided information about inter and international educational disparates.
water wednesday
We created a simulation on water access showing the time and effort required to attain the most basic life necessity: water. We raised awareness about often disregarded basic facts about water as well as action items and information to combat global water scarcity.
Health friday
We examined inequities in the distribution of health worldwide through a partnership with FIMRC and well as a screening of “Bending the Arc”.
nutrition thursday
Malnutrition accounts for half of deaths in children under 5 years old (9 million). We took over the first year dining hall providing information about malnutrition. In addition, we weighed the food students waste and shared this information to address food wastage in dining halls.
